CICA joins the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction, Le Bourget, December 3, 2015

CICA President Emre Aykar – along with FIEC President Johan Willemen – signed a common statement during Buildings Day at COP 21 in Paris on December 3rd, 2015.

On this occasion CICA President met with Ms. Ségolène Royal, Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy of France, Mr. Ibrahim Thiaw, Deputy Executive Director and Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, UNEP and Mr. Mohammed Nabil Benabdallah, Minister of Housing and Cities of Morocco.

“Ministers from Finland, France, Morocco, Senegal and Sweden, international organizations, multinational CEOs and civil society leaders launch the Alliance to speed up and scale-up the potential of the sector for climate action.”

Other members such as the International Union of Architects (UIA), the World Green Building Council (WGBC) or the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) have also joined the Alliance.

“The Alliance will help facilitate the mobilisation of ambitious levels of international resources for efficient local operational solutions, aligning existing initiatives, commitments and programmes to achieve greater scale, and catalysing greater pace and impact of climate action in the buildings and construction sector.”
